Breakout Session 1

 

Introduction to ASSIST, Part 1
An introduction to ASSIST, the ASSIST web site, and the reports and information available to the public. This session is recommended for those who are new to ASSIST.

Future Enhancements to Meet User Needs
This will be a discussion of possible future enhancements to ASSIST, and how they can meet the needs of all ASSIST users. Future enhancements will be designed to the further the goals and objectives outlined in the ASSIST Strategic Plan. This session is recommended for any interested participants. (This session will be repeated at 2:45.)

Feedback Received from Users
This session will present summaries of received on our feedback forms. One of these forms allows users to make general comments about their experience while using ASSIST. The other allows user to report cases in which they feel their courses did not transfer as they should have. This session is recommended for any interested participants.

Breakout Session 2

 

Introduction to ASSIST - Part 2
An overview of the roles and responsibilities of ASSIST Managers at community colleges and universities. Topics will include the Articulation Data Maintenance System, the Curriculum Update System, Curriculum Maintenance Reports, OSCAR and the ASSIST Information Center website. This session is recommended for new ASSIST Managers.

Articulation Data Maintenance Issues
This session will be a discussion of current issues and possible future enhancements of the Articulation Data Maintenance System. Topics will include:

Outstanding Issues & Existing Bugs
Enhancement Requests
Overview of Available Tools
Data Maintenance for Exploring Majors
This session is recommended for university articulation officers and data maintenance users.

OSCAR as an Open Repository
This session will provide information and discussion concerning plans to make OSCAR an open repository of community college course outlines. Topics include -

Update concerning the position of the Academic Senate Curriculum Committee
Campus input, issues and concerns
Additional data that may be needed
This session is recommended for any interested participants.

ASSIST and ADA Compliance
This session will discuss and demonstrate the use of ASSIST with adaptive web browsers, and other adaptive technologies applicable to ASSIST. Also discussed will be issues concerning ADA compliance and the reports available in ASSIST. This session is recommended for any interested participants.

California Community College Curriculum Management Systems
This session provides an opportunity for participants to discuss their experiences with electronic curriculum management systems, including (but not limited to) WebCMS and CurricuNet. The process involved in using data from these in OSCAR will also be discussed. This session is recommended for any interested participants.
